Praia Barranco das Belharucas - Where the cliffs gleam in shades of brown, yellow and red
The road to this beach leads through a gorge, which opens up inland from the cliffs. Its red rocks, interspersed with trees here and there, provide a stunning spectacle on the journey here. On the beach, the scene continues: the cliff stretches for kilometres parallel to the narrow strip of sand and the colour of the rock changes constantly between red, yellow and brown shades.
Praia Barranco das Belharucas is a long beach in the southern part of the Algarve and lies nine kilometres away from Albufeira. It's easy to reach by car - a sandy road leads almost right down to the beach and there are plenty of parking spaces.
In some places Praia Barranco Belharucas is equipped with beach loungers and sun umbrellas, and you will also find showers, lifeguards and two restaurants. In one of the restaurants you can indulge your palate with high-end dishes. The other serves mainly local seafood dishes at prices that are standard for the region. A small water sports operator offers banana boat rides and jet ski hire, amongst other things. Praia do Barranco das Belharucas is popular both with locals and tourists and in the summer months it's mainly families that spend their holidays on this beach.
