Praia do Monte Clérigo awaits you on the windy north-western Algarve coast with refreshing Atlantic water and Portuguese sun. This long sandy beach is next to a charming little settlement that is home to two popular restaurants and a surf school. A special highlight at Praia do Monte Clérigo is the platform on the rock formations to the north, where you are guaranteed a spectacular view of the bay and the hilly coastal landscape.
Praia do Monte Clérigo - A classic west coast beach next to a charming settlement
Ten minutes away from Aljezur lies the sandy beach, Praia do Monte Clérigo, set in the low-lying hilly landscape of the Algarve region. On the way here you should definitely stop at the viewing platform. This is because from the large rock formations to the north there is a fantastic view of the much-frequented bay and the deep blue ocean.
From the northern end the 500 metre long sandy beach stretches along the rock formations, working its way deeper and deeper inland. It's at its widest at the southern end, where there is a small settlement of charming white houses. There you will find two unusually popular restaurants. At the modern Restaurant A Rede good burgers are served with a great deal of care and attention. After your meal you can even purchase jewellery and clothes here. In the slightly more country-style Ozé the menu includes delicious fish dishes.
The beach is wheelchair accessible via small wooden bridges and boardwalks. In the clean but cool Atlantic water you can feel quite safe, since lifeguards are on the lookout. A strong swell and wind make for ideal surfing conditions on this west coast beach. Let the Portuguese sun kiss your skin!
