Praia da Cova Redonda - Family-friendly sandy beach in rocky landscape typical of the Algarve
The light rocks rise out of the surf like a giant ship's hull, creating the landmark of the small bay of Praia da Cova Redonda. The strip of fine sand, which shimmers red, lies in front of a light cliff face that divides the beach into several small coves with its rocky outcrops.
Praia da Cova Redonda is situated on the southern coast of the Algarve, around 17 kilometres from Albufeira and 19 kilometres from Portimão. From the car park a long, narrow set of steps leads down to the beach. The settlement of Alporchinhos, with its hotels and holiday apartments, spreads out above the cliffs.
The small bay is characterised by its sheltered location between the cliffs and its gently sloping shoreline, which make it particularly suitable for families. The facilities include sun loungers and beach umbrellas, but some are only available to guests of a nearby hotel. Lifeguards ensure safety on the beach. In a small kiosk set back between the rocks you can buy drinks and snacks.
Relaxation is high on the agenda at the beach. Even in summer Praia da Cova Redonda is not crowded and you’ll always find a quiet spot. A massage tent rounds off the pampering package.
