Praia da Senhora da Rocha - A friendly beach with charm
At the fishing harbour Senhora da Rocha, just under 40 kilometres from Lagoa, a little pearl of a beach lies hidden. Praia da Senhora da Rocha is an ideal bathing bay for the whole family. If you don't mind sharing the fine sand with a few boats and nets belonging to the local fishermen, you can look forward to a relaxed day on the beach here.
From the car park a short footpath leads you straight to the beach, which is surrounded by a rocky coastline. Lifeguards ensure visitors are kept safe round the clock. The bay is also equipped with showers and toilets. You can explore the area by sea on jet skis or in a paddle boat from the local water sports operator.
If you walk along near the cliffs in the east, there are hollowed out waterholes to discover in the rocks. If you look west you'll also be rewarded with a panoramic view. From here the unusual cliffs stretch all the way to Albufeira. A narrow tunnel leads to the adjacent bay and just a few steps through the rocky passage you’ll find a natural, unspoiled spot with not many visitors.
When you've had your fill of beautiful scenery, you can fill up in the restaurant. Drinks and snacks are served at Villarinho and the aroma of the delicious fish dishes wafts far and wide. In the bar you can also enjoy cool cocktails overlooking the sea.
