This beautiful, unspoiled, medium-sized sandy beach is framed by a deeply fissured rock face. The entrance is slightly concealed between two exclusive holiday resorts and is not signposted. This means that Praia dos Tremoços beach is never overcrowded and you can enjoy the clear, clean water and beautiful surroundings in an atmosphere of tranquillity.
Praia dos Tremoços - Beautiful sandy beach surrounded by cliffs
The beach of Praia dos Tremoços lies on the south coast of the Portuguese Algarve in the small village of Alporchinhos. The route to the beach takes you past a hotel resort, along a path and then down a set of wooden steps. You arrive in the lounger area, which is reserved for hotel guests. In the summer months this is also the base for the lifeguard, who, needless to say, looks after the safety of all bathers, regardless of whether they are resort guests.
Praia dos Tremoços beach is typical of the beaches in this region. The area of light-coloured sand is about 130 metres long and up to 30 metres wide and is bordered at the back and sides by a deeply fissured rock face, overgrown with vegetation at the top. The water is clear and clean, although on shore there is a small amount of natural debris away from the area looked after by the resort.
In comparison with other beaches in the area, the cliffs are not as high and the beach is slightly smaller and more compact. Despite this, the fact that, even in the height of summer, it is never overcrowded means that there is more than enough room for everyone who wants to come here to bathe and sunbathe.
The water here is good for swimming, snorkelling and, theoretically, for diving too, but transporting your equipment here would be too difficult. Equipment for this and other types of water sports is only available for hotel guests. A concrete jetty to the left of the beach offers an invitation to adopt a ship's eye view of the cliffs and the beach.
