Praia Fuseta - An informal dune beach on the Ilha da Armona with all the necessary facilities
Praia Fuseta is in the eastern part of Ilha da Armona. This is one of a small chain of islands that stretches along the Algarve coast not far from Faro. The area is called the Ria Formosa Natural Park, and is well-known for its unique ecosystem, consisting of lagoons, swamps and sand dunes.
The lovely sandy beach of Praia Fuseta stretches all the way along the side of the island facing the sea. It can easily be reached by ferry from the fishing village of Fuseta in just a few minutes. Near the landing stage you will find various recreational and beach facilities. Apart from these, the Fuseta beach is not particularly developed. Instead, its fine sand is bordered by dunes that extend eastwards and westwards for several kilometres. In the middle of the spacious beach of Praia Fuseta you will find a place that rents out sun umbrellas and loungers. A lot of local families enjoy the secluded peace and quiet of this light sandy beach without having to forgo essential comforts. There are two bars in the middle of the beach serving drinks and snacks. A masseur is on hand to provide massages right there on the beach. And there's a children's play area, also right on the beach.
The water sports operator Supculture has canoes, kiting and windsurfing equipment, stand up paddle boards and surf boards available. Another way of expending some energy is to have a game of beach volleyball. Despite this wide range of options, Praia Fuseta is never overcrowded. If you are bent on finding peace and quiet in a natural setting, there are long undeveloped stretches of beach in both directions. Naturists might prefer to head off westwards, while to the east you can bathe in a natural swimming pool that forms at low tide.
