Praia da Terra Estreita is one of four beaches on Tavira Island. From the picturesque fishing town of Santa Luzia regular ferry services bring you to the long sandy beach in a few minutes. Only a small beach bar can be found on the two kilometre long Praia da Terra Estreita, which offers plenty of space for rest and relaxation. The choice of water sports is surprisingly large for this haven of peace on the island. It ranges from canoeing and windsurfing to stand-up paddle boarding and sailing trips. Just ask at the beach bar, Terra Estreita!
Praia da Terra Estreita - A vast natural beach with a charming beach and water sports bar
Tavira Island lies in the south of Portugal and is part of the town of Tavira. The island is part of Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of the largest lagoon conservation areas in Europe, and home to four beaches, which are accessible from various coastal resorts.
Praia da Terra Estreita is located on of the east side of Tavira Island, and the quickest way to get here is on one of the regular ferry services or by private boat from the fishing town Santa Luzia. Active visitors can also walk here from either of the adjacent beaches. Praia do Barril lies to the west, and Praia de Ilha de Tavira to the east. In between them the relaxed dune beach of Praia da Terra Estreita stretches over more than two kilometres and, away from the centrally located beach bar, it is a real haven of peace between its two neighbours.
On Praia da Terra Estreita, whose name is an indicator of the fact that at 250 metres, it is the narrowest section of the island, you will find ideal conditions for a relaxing day's bathing. The beach is completely unspoiled and because of its length, provides plenty of space and privacy. Around the little beach bar, Terra Estreita, there are numerous loungers and beach umbrellas that invite you to relax. The simple bar blends extremely harmoniously into the natural ambience on Praia da Terra Estreita. On the menu there are delicious cocktails, drinks and snacks, which you can enjoy in the shaded lounge area right by the beach.
The owner, Eduardo, who has to dismantle and rebuild his bar every season due to the winter floods, also offers a wide range of water sports activities. You'll pay between 10 and 20 euros for an hour's canoeing, pedal boating, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing or windsurfing. You can even book a sailing trip here.
