Playa de Levante - fiesta with the locals
From the coast you don't see the best side of the southern Spanish city of La Línea de la Concepción. The backdrop of the urban beach of Playa de Levante features brownfields with piles of stones and ruins that are anything but attractive. However, to the south you have a fantastic view of the striking Rock of Gibraltar.
Playa de Levante is one of several beaches with urban character in the region around the large bay of Algeciras. It is easy to get to via the road right behind the beach and you will find plenty of parking places for your car. A long strip of fine, grey sand, which slopes gently into the water, awaits. Lots of families that live in the surrounding area come here to relax.
On the beach there are several small bars and restaurants, where you can sip cocktails and sample local dishes. In summer, especially at weekends, there's plenty going on in the evenings too, including Flamenco evenings and Latin-American parties, where you can let your hair down and dance with the locals.
