Playa de Sobrevela - long sandy beach on the outskirts of La Línea
Low-lying dunes, covered with little more than dried up stalks of grass and a few shrubs, characterise the scenery on Playa de Sobrevela beach. This broad expanse of soft sand, where you will find plenty of space to relax, spreads out over a kilometre along the coast. From here you have a fantastic view of the striking Rock of Gibraltar, which towers upwards just a few kilometres to the south.
The long beach of Playa de Sobrevela is situated near a loosely developed settlement on the northern edge of the town of La Línea de la Concepción. It is just four kilometres from the town centre and you will find places to park on the coastal road behind the dunes. The beach is very popular particularly with the locals. When it gets really hot in summer lots of families come from the surrounding area to relax by the water.
The facilities at the beach include showers and lifeguards, who ensure that bathing is safe and enjoyable in summer. In a small chiringuito you can make yourself comfortable on a sun bed or a lounger and listen to music. At weekends the staff organise regular parties. Whether it's traditional flamenco music or reggae beats, you can party and dance with the locals here.
