West of Marbella, in front of a holiday home village, you will find Playa El Saladillo, a beach which is very well equipped from a tourist point of view. It has two restaurants with large terraces, showers and toilets, plus lifeguards to take care of safety on the beach. At either end of the beach the fine grey sand merges into a stony surface in places, and this is where you should be able to find a quieter spot, even in summer. Playa El Saladillo is noted for its informal ambience. Among other things there are pedal boats with slides where children can let off steam.
Playa El Saladillo - relaxation in peaceful holiday home village
There are several quite different sides to Playa El Saladillo, which is a narrow beach almost three kilometres long. Whereas the north-eastern part, which is backed by fenced-off private properties, has a rather untidy look, the middle section appears very well cared for, with its small promenade, nicely laid-out and planted up. To the south-west the sand merges into a stony surface where you may be able to find a quiet spot for relaxation, a little removed from the crowd.
The surface of Playa El Saladillo consists mainly of fine grey sand, although at the ends of the beach this is interspersed with pebbles. It is situated directly in front of a development of holiday homes and a large hotel, and is 20 kilometres from Marbella by car. You should be able to park towards to the middle of the beach, close to the old lookout tower, Torre El Saladillo. The path to the beach goes past two restaurants where you can enjoy a meal and a drink on their large terraces.
The beach is especially popular with families, since, in addition to the two restaurants, it is equipped with showers and toilets. What's more, from June to October lifeguards take care of bathers' safety. You can get a view of the beach from the water by hiring pedal boats and so on from the water sports operator. Although the middle section and the part in front of the hotel can get rather full in summer, there are quieter corners at either end of the beach.
