Playa El Cristo - typical town beach with two inviting chiringuitos
This town beach, located in the holiday resort of Estepona, consists of a narrow strip of sand backed by the sober facades of building complexes. Fortunately, however, there is ample greenery to enhance its appearance. The palm and banana trees surrounding the two beach bars do a lot to help.
Playa El Cristo is located in the south-western part of Estepona and can be reached on foot from the town. If you are coming by car you'll have no problem finding somewhere to park in the nearby streets or in the car park right by the beach.
In summer there's lots happening on this beach. The dark sand that is typical of the region slopes gently down into the calm water. Children can play in the water here quite safely, since in the summer months there are lifeguards making sure that nothing untoward occurs.
Right at the beach you'll find two inviting restaurants with outside seating on the sand itself. These serve local cuisine and cocktails and at weekends they regularly hold parties. You can also rent sun loungers from them. There's a small kiosk where you can hire a pedal boat to take a look at the beach from the water. The staff there will also arrange jet ski and banana boat trips on request.
