Playa El Bombo - sandy beach with a boardwalk that's perfect for a stroll
Playa El Bombo is a sandy beach, slightly over one kilometre long, situated on the Costa del Sol between the Andalusian towns of Fuengirola and Marbella. To either side rocks and stones create a natural boundary separating off the neighbouring beaches.
Everyone, old and young, feels at home here - mainly because there's something for everyone. The kids can let off steam on the playground while their parents treat themselves to a relaxing massage. The more adventurous among you can let yourselves be towed across the sea on a sofa boat and generally fill the day with action-packed fun. What's more, the beach is barrier-free, and there's a wheelchair that can be used on sand and in the water, for those with mobility problems. The lifeguards will be happy to help and will stay with you in the water if necessary.
There is a boardwalk along the beach that functions as a promenade and is perfect for a stroll. The palm trees along its edge provide shade. There are chiringuitos – beach bars and restaurants – serving Spanish and international meals at prices that are standard for the region.
The one and only negative aspect is that Playa El Bombo is situated right on the motorway, so it's very noisy, especially at the entrances. However, as soon as you get away from the entrances, the houses act as a sound barrier that's effective enough to make you forget where you are. Although you might not think so at first, it's really relaxing here.
