Playa Los Boliches - large sandy beach with lots to offer
Playa Los Boliches is one of the beaches at Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in the Spanish region of Andalusia. Its neighbour to the south-west is Playa de San Francisco. To the north-east it merges seamlessly with Playa de Torreblanca. A coast road with a wide promenade runs along the whole length of the beach. There's also a cycle path and enough space for jogging or inline skating.
On the other side of the road are high buildings, mainly hotels and apartment complexes. There are also numerous shops, large and small, where you can buy various beach necessities, including clothes, food and all sorts of other things. You'll find plenty of restaurants: Chinese, Indian, Italian - a thoroughly varied and international range.
The chiringuitos (beach restaurants) are on the beach side of the coast road, and these serve mainly typical Spanish dishes and freshly grilled fish. They offer a wide range of drinks and rent out sun loungers and sun umbrellas, which occupy a vast area of sand in front of the chiringuitos and are reached via boardwalks. However, the soft fine sand is perfect for simply spreading out your own beach towel to lie on, and there's more than enough room to do so.
A lifeguard is in attendance to keep an eye on you, which makes for safe, relaxed bathing, but you can also rent jet skis, canoes, pedal boats and SUP boards for stand up paddling. For children there's a play area on land and even one in the water, which is popular with the adults as well. The area around the free showers is well-maintained and pleasantly planted up. There are public toilets and large parts of the beach are wheelchair accessible.
