In Andalusia on the Costa del Sol you will find a fantastic beach for relaxing for the whole family - Playa de Torreblanca has a large area of sand, on which you can spread out nicely and children can play. Several beach restaurants serve the grilled fish dishes that are typical of the region. Here you can also hire loungers and sun umbrellas. On the other side of the road to the promenade there are more restaurants, shops and plenty of accommodation in the tall buildings.
Playa de Torreblanca - large urban beach of fine sand
Playa de Torreblanca beach is situated in Spain on the Andalusian Mediterranean coast - more specifically, on the Costa del Sol between the popular holiday resorts of Fuengirola and Benalmádena. To the south-west it is bordered by the mouth of a stream, although in summer this rarely has enough water to reach the sea. The area of sand continues behind it and here it is called Playa Los Boliches. At the other end of Playa de Torreblanca the bay ends and is sheltered by a large breakwater. Behind it lies the neighbouring beach, Playa de Carvajal.
The large area of fine, greyish-brown sand stretches out along a coastal road. On the side of the road furthest from the beach there are lots of tall buildings - hotels, apartment complexes and houses. There are also a few restaurants here, mostly serving international cuisine. The palm-fringed path on the side nearest the beach is broad like a promenade and has plenty of space for walking or jogging. At a distance from one another there are some chiringuitos - beach restaurants, which also hire out loungers and beach umbrellas on the side facing the beach. Their cuisine is mostly typical of the region and at the grill stations right on the beach, fish and seafood are grilled on wood fires.
Playa de Torreblanca beach itself is wide and offers large areas of sand for lounging, especially in the spaces between the chiringuitos. Although the beach is very popular, particularly in summer and with families, it is never gets so full that it is cramped, at least outside the areas with loungers and sun umbrellas. Lifeguards are in situ and there are also showers and public toilets. Large areas of the beach are wheelchair accessible. There is a play area for little ones and fitness equipment for adults as well. At a hire centre right by the beach you can hire pedal boats and kayaks.
