Playa El Bajondillo - fine-sanded town beach with lots of beach restaurants
Playa El Bajondillo is one of the string of Andalusian beaches that run from Málaga airport in a south-westerly direction as far as the port of Benalmádena. They are seamlessly linked and form a surface of fine sand many kilometres long on the Andalusian Mediterranean coast. Playa El Bajondillo lies in the centre of the town of Torremolinos, the largest tourist stronghold on the Costa del Sol.
The long promenade, from where you can look down on the beach, is adjacent to a road. On the other side of the road are numerous tall buildings, most of which are hotels and apartment complexes. The palm-fringed promenade and the width of the road and the beach ensure that the buildings are not too close to the lounger areas and the water.
Both on the promenade and down on the sand there are numerous chiringuitos with bars, restaurants and sun lounger rental. These provide meals, drinks, loungers with sunshades and showers - the prerequisites for the ideal relaxing day on the beach. Alternatively, you can settle down free of charge on a lawn area with shady palm trees, bringing your own picnic with you. There's also a shaded children's playground in this area.
Lifeguards take care of safety in the water. Two water sports operators offer a wide range of options for riding the waves by motor or muscle power. In summer it gets very crowded on Playa El Bajondillo and families in particular like it here. Even so, this spacious beach always has plenty of room, so that you don't have to lie shoulder to shoulder.
