Playa Torre de Benagalbón - a nice big beach in Rincón de la Victoria, suitable for family holidays
This popular family beach lies at the eastern end of the small Andalusian town, Rincón de la Victoria, on the Costa del Sol, approximately 20 minutes from Málaga. It’s about 1,600 metres long and stretches between the town beach of this popular holiday resort and the quieter neighbouring beach of Playa de Los Rubios. On the grey sand, which gets very warm in summer, making it necessary to wear shoes, you will find a number of small grassy islands, where you can make yourself comfortable beneath the palms. Nearer the front of the beach there are sun loungers and umbrellas for hire. On the wide sands of Playa Torre de Benagalbón there is also a fitness track, a football pitch and a children’s play area. Showers and public toilets complete the facilities.
The clean, fresh seawater is both refreshing and safe, since lifeguards keep a constant eye on you and your children. There is even a Red Cross presence on site. In winter you will normally find good wind and water conditions for surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing, but there’s no water sports operator at the beach.
To make up for that, though, there are several chiringuitos right on the beach. In the Restaurante Liceo Playa you can get excellent paella, fresh fish and other delicious food. Merendero las Niñas is a firm favourite with the locals. Grilled anchovy kebabs and other fish dishes are available there at reasonable prices and you can enjoy a view of the sea as you eat.
On Playa Torre de Benagalbón you will encounter lots of Spanish families having a good time, especially in the summer months. Even though parts of the beach can then get very crowded, you are still sure to be able to find a quiet spot in the sun.
