Playa de La Alcaidesa - Extensive natural beach with an adjacent golf course
Rolling hills covered with a green carpet of plants, countless mussels washed up by the clear water, the horizon adorned with the mighty Rock of Gibraltar - the extensive natural sandy beach of Playa de La Alcaidesa provides a wonderful setting for spending restful hours by the Mediterranean.
You'll need to allow half an hour to get to the beach by car from Algeciras or Gibraltar. You will be rewarded with a relatively remote strip of coast that is far removed from the urban setting of the beaches in the bay of Algeciras. Behind the hills there is a large golf course and in the southern section of the beach you can see the outskirts of the settlement of La Alcaidesa. On the spacious area of fine sand you won't have any problem finding a quiet spot, even in summer. It's mainly couples of all ages that visit Playa de La Alcaidesa. In summer families dominate the crowd.
At the entrance to the beach you will find a water sports operator hiring out kayaks, pedal boats and equipment for stand-up paddle boarding. For food and drinks you have a choice of two convivial chiringuitos, where you can also get comfy on sun loungers and beach beds. At weekends there is regular live music.
