Playa de Casablanca - a long, sandy beach for sports fans, relaxation seekers and families
Despite, or perhaps because of, the fact that it is not situated right in the city centre, Playa de Casablanca is one of the most popular beaches in Marbella, the Andalusian city of the rich and beautiful.
The sandy beach is vast and quite broad and has lots of little oases with tall palm trees, which ensure that you will find a spot in the shade without having to hire a lounger with a sun umbrella.
A very well-kept promenade, which will put a smile on any sports fan's face, runs alongside the beach. Here you can jog, cycle - there's even a bike hire centre on site, and a Segway hire centre for the less athletic – or work out on the two outdoor fitness trails. In the meantime your kids can run around and have fun in the play area or on the climbing nets.
There's something for the more leisurely among you too, because as well as being able to stroll along the promenade or the boardwalk that leads into the water, or relax on a lounger with a cocktail in hand at one of the many beach bars, you will find several massage tents on this beach to maximise the relaxation factor.
There's chiringuito after chiringuito lined up here, so you don't need to hunt long for something to eat or some refreshment. Whether it’s typical Spanish food or international cuisine, a proper restaurant or a cool cocktail bar, there's something for everyone here.
There are also lifeguards and showers, and the slope into the water is very gentle, so families with children will feel at home here. The fact that the beach is wheelchair accessible all the way along, giving everyone the opportunity to spend a fantastic day here, rounds off the facilities nicely.
