Playa de la Venus - a sandy beach in the city centre with a long promenade
Playa de la Venus is an urban beach in the Andalusian city of Marbella with a spacious area of sand and a few pebble stones where the sand and water meet. It is accompanied by a palm-lined promenade, which is wonderful for strolling along while enjoying the fantastic view of the sea.
If you like well-equipped beaches with plenty going on you'll feel at home here. At Playa de la Venus the little ones can let off steam on a children's play area. Together with their parents, they can see the sea from another vantage point on a pedal boat. For everyone else, as well as the large range of eateries, there are plenty of loungers and sun umbrellas for hire, and the icing on the cake is a massage tent where you can relax with a view of the sea.
One little highlight is a shower in the shape of an elephant. The water sprays out of his raised trunk when you press the button on his right front leg. A bit of unexpected fun for young and old.
Unfortunately the slope into the water is anything but gentle. Right at the start there is a kind of step in the sand, which means you are standing in quite deep water straight away, so you need to be careful with children here. You don't need to worry though, because lifeguards keep a watchful eye on the beach's visitors, so there's nothing to stop you enjoying the bathing.
