Playa de Puerto Banús - broad sandy beach with lots on offer for young and old
Playa de Puerto Banús is situated to the left of Puerto Banús marina in Nueva Andalucía, a district of Marbella. This marina is known as a meeting place for the rich and beautiful from around the world. Contrary to expectations, the beach next to it, which consists of beige-coloured sand and small pebbles by the water's edge, and is accompanied by a long promenade, doesn't fully convey this image of glamour and luxury.
A few of the highlights awaiting you here are even free. Kids can let off steam in a play area and in a very well-kept park on the edge of the promenade, while adults work out on the fitness trail in the fresh air or simply take a stroll with a sea view.
It is true, though, that the prices in the large number of chiringuitos, i.e. the restaurants and bars directly by the beach, are quite high. However there are options for the slimmer wallet as well, such as a kiosk that you will find right on the promenade offering cool drinks at low prices.
An absolute highlight is the huge water slide that stands waiting at the entrance to the beach and provides fun for young and old alike.
The water sports lovers among you should definitely make a detour to the end of the beach, where you will really get your money's worth. There you can hire kayaks, take a ride on a banana boat or try out parasailing, amongst other things.
The beach also has a blue flag, a quality mark that is only awarded if certain conditions are met, such as the presence of life guards, first aid equipment and safe access to the beach. This means you can rest easy whether you choose to bathe in the water, relax or have an action-packed day.
