Summary of the Beach Inspectors

At Playa de Ferrara an endless sandy beach awaits, extending over one and a half kilometres on the Costa del Sol. On the vast area of sand you will find numerous loungers and beach umbrellas available to hire. Along the beach promenade, which reaches to the next beach section, Playa de Cenicero, you can enjoy good long walks and a wide range of restaurants, bars and shops. Lots of families and older people take advantage of the comprehensive facilities at Playa de Ferrara, which make the beach a popular holiday destination.

Playa de Ferrara - a vast family beach with excellent infrastructure

This one and a half kilometre long beach is located in the small Andalusian town of Torrox on the Costa del Sol, around 45 minutes from Málaga. It consists of fine sand, which ranges in colour from grey to beige and covers a huge surface that is 30 metres deep. On it a colourful sea of sun umbrellas mingles with the standard backdrop of rented loungers and umbrellas, which are available from the beach furniture hire stands from May to October.

Playa de Ferrara is adjacent to the former Roman trading town, Torrox-Costa. Nowadays there's nothing left of the ancient world other than a few remaining ruins. Instead, the cityscape is characterised by modern, multi-storey hotel and apartment complexes. Restaurants, cafés, souvenir and other small shops are lined up along the long beach promenade. They provide everything the numerous families of holidaymakers could possibly wish for - beach equipment, clothing, souvenirs, snacks, etc. A fitness trail, bike hire centre, children's play area, volleyball court and football pitch add a bit of variety to your beach routine.

With its moderate waves, Playa de Ferrara, which is also accessible for people with limited mobility, is ideal for bathing and paddling. On this typical family beach you will find lots of Spanish, British and German bathers. In the summer months it can get very crowded here.

Playa de Ferrara has one of the longest beach promenades on the Costa del Sol. It stretches from here to Playa del Cenicero, which borders Playa de Ferrara directly to the west. El Faro lighthouse stands on a short breakwater that borders the beach to the east.
