Summary of the Beach Inspectors

Playa del Morche is a large sandy beach where you are guaranteed a relaxing and peaceful beach day, but which nonetheless has everything you need for a pleasant holiday. There are restaurants, bars and shopping facilities along the promenade. On the spacious beach you will find peace and quiet, but also a fitness track, a children's playground, plus football pitches and volleyball courts to add variety to your day. The sandy beach is over a kilometre long and has ideal water conditions, making it perfect for an enjoyable family holiday, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Playa del Morche - long family beach that's great for peace and privacy

Playa del Morche is on the south coast of Spain, approximately 45 minutes away from Málaga. It's the first of three long sandy beaches that enjoy great popularity with families holidaying on the Costa del Sol. If you take the N-340 coast road you'll reach a small tourist development called El Morche, which consists of two rows of houses surrounded by lots of orchards and market gardens. Here you will find mainly hotels, apartment complexes, restaurants and bars, though there are also some homes and shops.

Playa del Morche is spacious and flat, and the promenade that runs all the way along the beach is lined with a variety of service facilities. From May to October the beach is monitored by lifeguards. During this period you can also rent loungers and sun umbrellas. If you'd rather not to have to pay for your patch of shade, you can make yourself comfortable on one of the palm-clad islands at the back of the beach. There are several chiringuitos right on the beach at Playa del Morche, where you can purchase tasty meals and refreshments. There are further restaurants, ice cream parlours, cafés and bars on the promenade.

Playa del Morche has fine brown sand, interspersed with pebbles towards the edge of the transparently clear water. It’s a large family beach, where locals and holidaymakers from Britain, Germany and Spain feel equally at ease. The atmosphere is very laid-back and restful and you can find bit of privacy here too, as the broad sands stretch for at least a kilometre. To the east the beach adjoins the natural and unspoiled section of Playa de Cenicero. To the west the Río Güí empties into the sea. In the far distance you can just make out the large lookout tower, Torre de Güí.

At Playa del Morche canoes, pedal boats and stand up paddle boards are available to rent from several water sports operators. In addition there is a small water park with a climbing wall, slides and other equipment. On windy days you can also go kiting and windsurfing here. However, you will need to bring your own equipment for this. On shore you will find a small fitness track, a children's playground, a football pitch and several volleyball courts. A tourist information service will be happy to provide you with information about excursions to nearby attractions.
