The Island - Relax at one of the most amazing beaches in the world
The Island, which is also known as Lebanon Island, is one of 300 islands forming an artificially created group of islands off the coast of Dubai known as "The World“. Looking at it from above, it is supposed to look like a map of the world, but the whole project is in its early stages and this is the first island completed and open to the public. It is approximately 2000 square metres in size and is divided into east and west beaches.
The Island can only be reached by boat from Jumeirah Fishing Harbour (Fisherman Marina Jumeirah 1) and the entrance fee is 200 AED per person and includes the boat transfer. The journey of about 11 kilometres takes about 15 minutes and there are trips every hour from 11:00 onwards.
The price includes not only the boat journey there and back, but also numerous activities such as volleyball, billiards and table football, as well as the use of toilets, showers and loungers at the beach. Unfortunately, water-sports activities such as kayaking and stand-up paddling are not included in the price, but for a charge you can easily hire the equipment at the beach club. Bath towels on the other hand are free.
It is only possible to come to The Island for the day. Although there are six so-called chalets which you can hire, these are not equipped for an overnight stay. The small huts have air conditioning, a toilet and a shower, as well as a cosy living area to relax and to escape from the heat at the beach.
On the island are two bars and a restaurant which serve refreshing drinks and delicious international food. There are exotic cocktails, different kinds of burgers, a wide choice of fish dishes, sushi and much more. You will find everything you could possibly wish for here.
There are numerous sun-loungers and parasols at the beach, giving you the chance to really relax here. There is also the pool area where you can make yourself comfortable while listening to the lounge music of the DJ.
The island is also popular for romantic marriage proposals.
