Playa Es Pujols - Local beach for the tourists of Formentera’s largest holiday resortThe small town of Es Pujols is situated on a narrow strip of land between a salt lake and the Mediterranean Sea. With numerous hotels, restaurants and cafés, this is the most important tourist resort in Formentera. Es Pujols blends in nicely with the low dune landscape in the north-east of the island and offers its tourists a long beach of fine sand.
Playa Es Pujols is just a stone’s throw away from the town centre. Flat rocks, some of them reaching right into the sea, divide the beach into several areas. Small islands off the coast together with fishing boats and sailing boats dropping anchor nearby create a great panorama on the sea. The light-coloured sand slopes very gently into the turquoise water, which makes this beach popular not just with families with children, but also with couples who want to spend a nice day at the beach here close to the town. As on most beaches of Formentera, Playa Es Pujols is very popular with the Italians.
Playa Es Pujols is also an attractive option for windsurfers. There is a water-sports outlet where you can hire the appropriate equipment and you can also hire canoes and catamarans here.
At both ends of the beach the skyline changes from buildings to low, flat dunes with greenery. Towards the middle of the beach along the promenade are restaurants and cafés and in the evenings you can also buy jewellery, clothes and souvenirs from several stalls.
