Playa Llevant - Have a fiesta with the localsThe coast near the southern Spanish city of La Línea de la Concepción is not the prettiest of sights. The setting of the town beach Playa Llevant is dominated by wasteland, with piles of stones and ruins which are not at all nice to look at. However, looking south, you have a great view of the distinctive cliffs of Gibraltar.
Playa Llevant is one of several town beaches in the area surrounding the large bay of Algeciras. It can easily be reached by crossing the road behind the beach and there are plenty of car parking spaces. Here you will find a long stretch of fine, grey sand which slopes gently into the sea. A lot of families living in this area come here to relax.
At the beach there are several small bars and restaurants where you can enjoy cocktails and try local dishes. In summer in the evenings, especially at the weekends, there is a lot going on here. For example, there are Flamenco evenings and Latin-American parties, where you can join the locals dancing and partying.
