Playa de Espalmador - Exclusive spot between Formentera and IbizaThe small island of Espalmador, situated off a narrow pointed stretch of land in the north of Formentera, features a unique beach landscape where nature provides one highlight after another. The island is not inhabited, there are no buildings here and it can only be reached by boat. If you have not got your own boat, a catamaran can bring you here in about 20 minutes from the nearby beach of Playa de ses Illetes. On Espalmador you will find a beautiful beach of fine, white sand, as well as the crystal clear blue and turquoise water of the Mediterranean Sea, and all this in completely natural surroundings.
You have to bring your own food and drink with you here, as there are no amenities on Isla de Espalmador. The difficulty in getting here means that the beach is not particularly busy, even in summer. However, many large yachts and sailing boats drop anchor off the island’s coast, bringing a wide range of visitors to the island, including both families and couples.
The island is part of a conservation area which covers large parts of the north of Formentera and stretches over the sea to the southern tip of Ibiza. For this reason a small fee has to be paid upon entry to the conservation area.
