The main feature of the small bay of Playa sa Roqueta in the north of Formentera is the fine sand which stretches far into the shallow, turquoise-coloured Mediterranean Sea. This makes it attractive not only for families with children, but also for everyone who wants to enjoy a touch of the Caribbean at the Mediterranean Sea. Fans of nudism will find quiet spots in the nearby bays. The hotel behind the beach has a restaurant which offers typical local dishes.
Playa sa Roqueta - Caribbean style beach for relaxing
There is not much space in this bay surrounded by flat rocks, as the sea floods large parts of the soft, sandy area. Depending on the weather conditions, there is at times no room at all here for sunbathing on dry land, but all the more room for having fun in the very shallow Mediterranean Sea. Playa sa Roqueta is in the north of Formentera and is one of the smaller beaches of the island. From La Savina it is only about four kilometres by scooter or car and the large holiday resort of Es Pujols is approximately two kilometres away.
The beach is part of a coastal area which has a predominantly rocky surface, but also small bays and areas of fine sand. The coast ends with a vast stretch of dunes in the direction of the island. Soft, sandy surfaces are above all to be found under the crystal clear water and stretch far out into the open sea. Playa sa Roqueta is popular with families and also with couples and singles looking for relaxation and the chance to cool off in the very shallow water. Snorkelling is also very enjoyable here.
Playa sa Roqueta is also popular with nudists. Although it gets rather crowded here in the main season, in the nearby bays you can find quiet spots to escape to. The hotel directly behind the beach has a restaurant with a nice terrace where you can enjoy typical local dishes.
