Playa Jurado - Pebble beach with extraordinary cliff scenery
Jurado beach is situated about 15 minutes north of Ajuy. A gravel path leads to the bay which is hidden behind cliffs. On the way down the view can be admired of the beach, which has been completely left to nature. A large cliff arch is the striking centre point and it gives the impression of looking through a window at the sea and the crashing waves.
Once on the beach be aware of the spectacular waves. They can take you by surprise suddenly shooting over the cliffs and they have the power to hurl anyone onto the rocks. The currents should also not be underestimated and swimming is not to be recommended, particularly in the winter months. It is best to enjoy the crashing of the waves from a safe distance. The beach is not heavily frequented and there is often a good chance to be completely on your own. Only in summer and at weekends is it sometimes a little more crowded, especially when the locals come for a BBQ or to camp at the beach.
