Flag Beach (Bajo Negro) - Nature and surfing highlight in the midst of the dunes
The Flag Beach (also known as the Bajo Negro) is situated in the north of Fuerteventura, approximately 2 kilometres from Corralejo. The extensive dunes in the background form the dominant feature of the beach.
This very long sandy beach is most suitable for nature lovers and surfers. The wind and the waves at Flag Beach allow sporting activities all year round. There is a windsurfing and kite surfing centre which offers equipment hire and a range of courses. A small beach-bar offers snacks and refreshments. The rest of the beach is completely left to nature and the only large building is a hotel at the southern end of the beach. The majority of the visitors are surfers and kiters, especially in the central area of the beach. These can be sighted in the turquoise coloured water, particularly when wind conditions are good. The visitors to the beach are a mixed crowd and there is also more nudist swimming the further towards Corralejo you go.
To be noted is that the view from Flag Beach is stunning and the Isla de los Lobos can be clearly seen on the horizon. Also the spectacular dunes at the beach can be easily explored.
