In the popular holiday resort of Corralejo in Fuerteventura can be found this typical, small town beach, which can become quite crowded in the main season. The sandy beach is comfortable to lie on and it is possible to go quite some distance out into the shallow water. As the beach is situated directly at the promenade, there are plenty of restaurants with a wide variety of food and drink to choose from. However, if you are looking for a quiet day at the beach, then you are probably better off looking somewhere else. On the other hand, it never gets boring at Muelle Chico.
Muelle Chico - Centrally situated sandy beach at the Corralejo promenade
The Muelle Chico beach is directly next to the pedestrian zone at the heart of Corralejo, which is a popular holiday resort in northern Fuerteventura. The beach is about 100 metres in length and has as its background the promenade which is lined with white houses. Here you can find several restaurants which overlook the beach. The beach itself has light –coloured sand with a number of areas of small dark stones. It is enclosed on the one side by dark rock formations and on the other side by a quay wall. The harbour is on the other side of this wall, but is far enough away not to be noticed.
The fine beige-coloured sand stretches right into the sea and it is possible to walk comfortably for up to 20 or 30 metres into the water, as it is quite shallow at the front. Being centrally placed and not very big, the Muelle Chico beach can become fairly crowded at times. However, everything that is needed for an enjoyable day at the beach can be found either there or nearby. Muelle Chico is a very good choice if you stay in Corralejo, have not got a car and you are not interested in water-sports.
