Playa Waikiki - Beautiful town beach at Corralejo with excellent conditions for surfing beginners, as well as for swimmers
There are several beaches in Corralejo of which Playa Waikiki is the largest. The beach is situated in the southern part of the town not far from the promenade. Officially known as Galera beach, it has been given the more commonly used name of Waikiki beach by the locals. Waikiki offers very good swimming conditions considering its proximity to the town. The cosy bay is sheltered from wind, waves and currents, which makes it ideal for children and inexperienced swimmers. The smooth, light sandy beach looks inviting and is perfect to lie on. Sun-loungers can also be hired.
Windsurfing conditions are good, especially for beginners. Several local water sport outlets also offer canoes, pedal boats and stand-up-paddles for hire. Most of the time the beach is fairly busy, which is no surprise as it is very centrally located and has all amenities for a nice day at the beach, including a wide variety of restaurants. The Waikiki beach bar is right at the beginning of the beach and there is also a row of cosy little cocktail bars in the background.
