Playa de Costa Calma - Wide sandy beach with a variety of activities, but also quiet spots
The beach of the town Costa Calma is situated in the south-east of the island. The approximately 2-kilometre long sandy beach is overlooked by hotels and can easily be reached from them. There are several pathways leading to the beach.
As the name in Spanish suggests (Costa Calma) there are hardly any currents and only small waves along this coast, providing perfect conditions for swimming and bathing all year round. Unfortunately though, there are quite often strong winds which can be a little disturbing while sunbathing at the beach, but on the other hand this is perfect for windsurfers and kiters, who can then be observed in the air and on the water, if you're not tempted to reach for a board yourself.
The long, wide beach offers enough space for children to play in the sand and for adults to stroll along the water's edge. There are also bushes which offer privacy, shade and protection from the wind.
Surfing courses and equipment hire are available in the local windsurfing school. Furthermore, Jet-skis, banana boats and quads are also available for hire locally. Two small bars at the beach offer refreshments for refuelling. The beach Playa de Costa Calma has everything needed for young and old, guaranteeing the perfect enjoyable day at the beach.
