The village of La Pared is situated in the south-west of Fuerteventura on the narrow stretch of LandengeIstmo de la Pared, which is only about 4.5 kilometres wide at its narrowest point and is covered with flat shifting dunes.
La Pared was originally intended to be a large holiday resort, but it has remained more of a quiet, sleepy village. Most of the bungalows and fincas are empty, with only few inhabited by locals and therefore there is hardly any traffic in La Pared. The main attractions here are the breath-taking sunset and the fantastic views of the wild, steep costal cliffs and that of La Pared beach which can be had from the top of the majestic cliffs. The typical local fish restaurant, Bahia La Pared, is also a popular destination for holidaymakers in Fuerteventura. Many tourists come from Costa Calma for a day trip to La Pared, as it only 10 kilometres (15 minutes by car) from there.
The fascinating beach of La Pared is located well away from mass tourism and is very popular with surfers.
