Summary of the Beach Inspectors

The walk through the dunes of Jandia Natural Park to Playa Aqua Ligues is easy and not too long and is the main tour highlight for all lovers of landscapes. The high waves crashing against the coast and the fine, yellow, sandy beach at the foot of the cliffs, together with the sandstone shapes formed by the wind make Playa Agua Liques a special location. At this beach you are well away from mass tourism and can relax and enjoy undisturbed peace and quiet. Although this is still an insider tip, it is becoming more and more popular with both locals and hikers.

Playa Agua Liques - Hiking through the Jandia Natural Park

On the island of Fuerteventura there is a network of 13 conservation areas which are divided into nature parks, landscape parks, natural monuments and nature reserves. Playa Agua Liques is reached by walking for 2.5 kilometres through Jandia Natural Park. This walk feels like strolling through the desert as, apart from some stony patches, this amazing dune landscape consists entirely of sand. On reaching the top of the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean, you will definitely be impressed by the spectacular nature on view here, especially by the high waves crashing violently against the coast. In the distance, beneath the cliffs you can see the beach of Playa Agua Liques with its fine yellow sand surrounded by cliffs.

The trade winds, which are continually blowing at speeds of up to 90 kilometres per hour, have shaped the rocks everywhere here into amazing sandstone sculptures which make fantastic photos. There are no bars or restaurants on the way to the beach or at the beach itself and we recommend therefore that you take your own food and drink. Here, well away from the rest of civilisation, there are no amenities for tourists or any sporting activities on offer. At high tide when the waves are strong the beach is sometimes flooded and it is therefore advisable to check the weather report and tide times before coming here, using http://www.tides4fishing.com/es/islas-canarias/morro-jable-fuerteventura. Especially in the autumn months when the wind is not blowing all the time, the waves are not so high and you can enjoy a swim here. However, if there is a storm blowing or the waves are high, swimming here means risking your life and if a storm is forecast it is advisable not to come to this beach.
