Playa de Tebeto is an amazingly green spot in Fuerteventura, an island where otherwise hardly any plants and bushes are to be found. It is situated at a river bed with a constant flow of shallow water. The sandy area of the small beach is not very large, but there is plenty room on the large rocks to relax comfortably. The beach, a real insider tip, can only be reached via a dirt track, but the impressive scenery creating a wild, romantic atmosphere makes the effort worthwhile. Surfers will find good conditions even on days when the sea is calm on the neighbouring beaches.
Playa de Tebeto (Playa de Tindaya) - Green oasis in the middle of the desert landscape of Fuerteventura
Playa Tebeto is to be found in a remote location on the north-western coast of Fuerteventura near the village of Tindaya. The beach is in a bay with a riverbed lined with greenery and surrounded by high cliffs. A dirt track provides access to the beach, where you will be welcomed by a gentle breeze and lush green dunes. A view like this is seldom to be had on this otherwise sparsely vegetated island and it is almost like the scenery to be found at Germany's North Sea and Baltic Sea coastline.
A small stream trickles along, winding its way through the vegetation and giving the bay a calming and idyllic atmosphere. The way down to the sandy beach is over some large round rocks. The waves crash down with force on the impressive cliffs. In these completely wild, natural surroundings there is always room to spread out or even to put up a tent if you would like to stay for more than just for the day to enjoy the very beautiful scenery.Swimming is only to be recommended in summer because of the dangerous currents in the winter months and there are no lifeguards on patrol here. However, conditions for surfers here are good, even on days when there are no decent waves to be seen along the rest of the coast.
