Summary of the Beach Inspectors

Once you've accomplished the long "trudge through the wilderness" to the mountain top at Playa del Cometa, the bay lies spread out before you and the steep rocky slopes seem to be embracing the beach. Here, on this delightfully spacious, natural sandy beach, south of Playa el Pajar, you'll find a real paradise for naturalists and naturists. What's more, the beach crowd here is very open-minded and friendly and you'll encounter lots of same-sex couples. The hike to this insider's tip is really worth it!

Playa del Cometa - Deeply relaxing unspoiled beach for all-over tanning

Here on Playa del Cometa, to the south of Playa el Pajar, you will find a spacious, fabulously natural and unspoiled sandy beach - a real paradise for naturalists and naturists. What's more, the beach crowd here is very open-minded and friendly and you'll encounter lots of same-sex couples. However, you'll have to walk a bit to reach this insider's tip – through a wilderness landscape!

From the car park the path takes you over rough and smooth terrain through a really barren lunar landscape. At the edge, just before you start the walk down, you can see the beach and select your spot for the day. The bay is tightly ringed by mountains and it's as if the rocky slopes are embracing the beach. From here you set out on the long and slightly difficult walk down. It's very important that you have all your food and drinks for the day with you, because it will take you a good half hour on foot to reach the water's edge. On top of that, you should allow plenty of time for the descent, as the path is not only steep, but there are lots of loose stones, making it rather hazardous.

Despite the gentle slope from the beach into sea and the really fantastic bathing conditions you are unlikely to encounter children or older visitors on Playa del Cometa because of the difficult path to the beach. Instead, there could well be dog lovers frolicking in the waves with their best friends. If you'd like to be on your own you can retreat to the sides or even pitch your tent and camp for the night. At sunset you should embark once more on the climb to the top of the mountain - then you and your beloved can enjoy the breathtaking view toward El Pajar from the summit. The cranes and tankers around the industrial harbour are silhouetted against the sky and the golden-tongued Atlantic is lapping the beach. The trek will be worth it – we promise!
