Playa de Tarajalillo - Lots of space to run around with your dog
The major complexes and hotels at Playa de Tarajalillo, between Playa del Cardón and Playa del Águila, mark the start of the touristy south of the island. Most visitors come for the magnificent flying club, Real Aeroclub de Gran Canaria, where you can book not only sightseeing flights, but also tandem jumps here in the south-east of Gran Canaria. Unfortunately as a result of this, and a nearby car racing track, there is usually a lot of noise on the beach, which neither the wind nor the waves can drown out.
The beach of Tarajalillo, below the Hotel BlueBay Beach Club, is a good kilometre long, but only about 30 metres wide, and is divided into two areas, the beach on one side and the airfield and a holiday complex on the other. Playa de Tarajalillo is situated right next to the holiday complex and campsite of Bahía Feliz, and guests like to stroll along the beach. Otherwise, you’ll mainly come across locals playing with their dogs here. The beach is very easy to find. From the GC-500 head towards the sea at kilometre 48 and skirt round Bahía Feliz. The path down from the car park is unmade, so you should bring sturdy footwear. The slope into the water on this long, narrow beach, which consists of a mixture of sand and pebbles, is very gentle, so it's good for small children and unconfident swimmers. Unfortunately there are no sanitary facilities or restaurants at Playa de Tarajalillo so you need to think about drinks and provisions before setting out for this beach.
