Puerto Portinatx - Sheltered family beach in a holiday resort
With pedal boats to hire, good diving conditions and rocks to climb, Puerto Portinatx has a lot to offer, especially for families. It is one of the three beaches of Portinatx, the small holiday resort in the north of Ibiza. It is situated in the resort and this, together with a large car park, makes it easy to come here.
Puerto Portinatx is situated towards the back of a narrow bay. The small beach consists of fine sand which slopes gently into the shallow water. There are several sun-loungers and parasols available for relaxation. The northern part of the beach is lined with flat rocks which are partly covered with greenery. Towards the north they form a rocky coastline where you can go for a hike and enjoy the views of the open sea.
A small beach bar on the sand offers refreshments, while a small promenade with two restaurants stretches to the south of the beach. Behind that are several hotel buildings, but the other sides of Puerto Portinatx have not been developed.
Also at the promenade is a diving school. Although there are not many fish in the bay, the rocky underwater world is worth exploring. There is a small shipwreck to be seen and you can also swim into a small cave. If you walk over a rock plateau next to the beach you can reach the small stony beach of Sa Guardiola. Here you are away from the resort and you can enjoy some peace and quiet surrounded by cliffs and fishing boats in the sea.
