S'Arenal Gran - Everything for the family
Kids with water pistols and inflatable dolphins are a main feature of the beach of S'Arenal Gran in the north of Ibiza. It is one of three beaches in the small holiday resort of Portinatx and a very popular destination for families with children. The few large hotels here are surrounded by a lot of greenery and there are rocky hills with forests on either side of the bay.
You really cannot miss S'Arenal Gran in Portinatx and there are plenty car parking spaces here. Steps and a ramp lead down to the beach from the village centre. With a bit of luck you can find a space in the shade under the trees, but there are also sun-loungers and parasols for hire. The beach consists entirely of soft sand and the water is shallow and shimmers in the sunshine in an vivid turquoise colour. S'Arenal Gran also has a sealed-off swimming area, lifeguards on duty, and showers and toilets.
Two small football goals on the sand are there for the kids to kick a ball about, while banana boats and pedal boats provide the action on the water. A special highlight is a tour of the bay on a boat with a glass floor, through which you can admire the underwater world.
Via a promenade which stretches along a flat rock plateau, S'Arenal Gran is connected with its smaller neighbouring beach of S'Arenal Petit and it is easy to walk there. Along the promenade are small shops selling snacks, drinks, swimming rings and other beach gear and there is also a playground and three restaurants. At the other end of the beach is a path which leads up to further restaurants with nice terraces and a view of the sea, but the prices there are higher.
