Es Cavallet - Extensive dune scenery in a nature reserve
Es Cavallet is similar to the neighbouring beach of Ses Salines in the west, where the young and beautiful enjoy themselves. However the approximately one and a half kilometre long, sandy beach of Es Cavallet, situated on a narrow headland right in the south of Ibiza, has a much more relaxed atmosphere. There is plenty of space to spread out on the extremely spacious and wide sandy beach and in the low dunes behind it. Es Cavallet is especially popular with nudists and the southern part of the beach is one of the hotspots for the gay community of Ibiza.
It takes about a quarter of an hour by car from Ibiza town, travelling past large salt fields and through a nature reserve until you reach a large car park near the beach. A short, sandy path leads to the restaurant El Chiringuito. Just in front of the building comfortable beach beds are for hire, as are sun-loungers at the water's edge. A variety of local dishes in the higher price bracket are served in the restaurant in a chic atmosphere.
While the northern part of the beach attracts mainly families and middle-aged couples, the vast majority in the central area of the beach are nudists. Further south you will find another restaurant, Chiringay, which is a well-known meeting point for the gay community of the island. On the large terrace of the restaurant you can choose from a wide variety of dishes, from risotto to hamburger, while drinking cocktails and listening to the music.
