Es Xarco - Quiet beach in a rocky, wooded landscape
Es Xarco is part of a landscape dominated by rocks covered in pine trees. The narrow, stony beach offers a great view across the clear water to the bay. It is about nine kilometres by car from San Josep to this beach in the south of Ibiza. The last 200 metres are via a winding gravel road down to the car park which is directly at the beach.
Es Xarco seems rather unspectacular at first sight, but its surroundings make the beach quite charming. Numerous boats are anchored in the bay surrounded by rocks and Mediterranean trees stretch inland right behind the beach. There are also a few boat houses on the one side of Es Xarco.
There are very few people to be seen on the beach here, and it is only a few individuals and couples looking for quiet who make their way here. Families and water-sports enthusiasts do not usually come to Es Xarco. Many people come here because of the restaurant which has a large shaded terrace with fantastic views directly at the sea. The menu offers local specialities in the higher price range. Sun-loungers to soak up the sun are available on a small plateau between the restaurant and the beach.
