Cala Tarida - Has a little of everythingCala Tarida is known for its fine sand and shallow, clear water which shimmers turquoise in the sun. This beach in the south-west of Ibiza is eight kilometres from San Josep and is one of the biggest and best known beaches of the Island. Accordingly, it is well signposted and has plenty of car parking spaces.
This narrow, but long beach is in the small holiday resort of the same name. There are several hotels and holiday apartments situated at the rocky cliffs. All in all, Cala Tarida is not very built-up and makes a pleasant impression with plenty greenery visible on the small hills.
Roughly in the middle of the beach a few small rocks stick out of the sea at the water's edge. On the sand itself there is a mixture of sun-loungers, parasols and beach beds. At the back of the beach can be found a row of restaurants and bars with meals in all price categories. Whether you are looking for a rustic restaurant or a cocktail lounge, Cala Tarida has an extensive choice.
Cala Tarida is particularly popular with families with children and in summer especially it gets really busy here. There is also a surf school offering courses for windsurfing, wakeboarding and stand-up paddling. Conditions for water-sports are good all year round.
Not far from Cala Tarida are a few small bays where you can get away from the hustle and bustle. These are however difficult to get to, as there is no proper path and you will need to climb down the rocky cliff. However, the turquoise water, the fine sand as well as absolute tranquillity make it well worth it.
