Playa de Es Canar - Very close to Ibiza's hippy market
You only have to look at the shallow water's edge where dozens of screaming kids are running around enjoying themselves and you know that this beach in the small holiday resort of Es Canar has been completely taken over by families. It is a stone's throw from several hotels situated on both sides of the beach which dominate the scenery. However, there are also garden restaurants with trees to improve the scene.
Playa de Es Canar is located in a flat region in the north-east of Ibiza and can reached by car from Santa Eulària in about ten minutes. Behind the beach is a large car park which can become very busy in the main season in nice weather.
Soft sand and very shallow water provide ideal conditions for the kids to enjoy themselves here and there are also plenty of loungers for sunbathing. For hire on both sides of the beach are kayaks, pedal boats and boards for stand-up paddling, as well as banana boats and even an oxoon to be steered through the water with a joystick. Lifeguards help to keep the beach safe. Playa de Es Canar has all necessary amenities with a wooden ramp, showers and toilets. There is a supermarket and a pharmacy in the village and bumper car rides can be enjoyed right next to the car park.
Es Canar is known all over the island for a special attraction, namely as the venue of the biggest hippy market in Ibiza. This takes place every Wednesday and just a few metres from the beach crowds of people haggle with the sellers of the colourful stands over prices for clothes, jewellery and crafts items.
