Garoda Beach – nature pure and sea creatures which can be touched
Garoda Beach is a small beach with hardly any infrastructure. On the one side of the picturesque, fine sandy beach is a hotel complex of the same name, but which is only used in the main season. Along the public access to the beach are some stalls selling pictures, jewellery and bric-a-brac. Apart from these buildings, Garoda Beach has been completely left to nature, meaning that it is very quiet and incredibly idyllic. South of Garoda Beach are two small rocky bays which are ideal for getting a close-up look at sea creatures such as crabs, starfish, urchins and fish of all kinds. In the north Garoda Beach continues into Turtle Beach which is also quiet.
The restaurant of the hotel complex provides snacks and drinks even if you are not staying at the hotel, so there is no reason to remain hungry here.
Garoda Beach – Relaxation and kite-boarding
Garoda Beach is a very quiet beach and ideal for long walks and complete relaxation. To the south of the beach stony areas resembling a moon landscape become visible at low tide. The many little pools which form are perfect for observing sea creatures. If you carry on walking up to the estuary of the Mida Creek, on the offshore rock called Temple Point you can admire the remains of a centuries old Islamic place of prayer which gave the place its name.
Garoda Beach and its neighbouring beaches are not just great for relaxation, but they are also popular with kite-surfers, although you will need to bring your own equipment for this.
Watamu Tree House – an unusual oasis near Garoda Beach
At the end of your day we can recommend a visit to the nearby Watamu Tree House. From this unusually constructed six storey building you not only have an unbeatable view of all the beaches of Watamu Marine Park, but you can also enjoy from here a fantastic view of the sunset over the palm-trees and mangroves.
In addition Paul ,who runs Watamu Tree House, offers Yoga lessons which take place on the top floor, as well as advice on how to realise your dreams. A really unusual place which fits in nicely with the relaxed atmosphere at Garoda Beach.
