Haad Khom Beach - Dream beach for snorkelers and tranquility seekers in a picturesque bay
Haad Khom Beach is in the north of the island of Koh Phangan and is known as one of the nicest beaches on the island. This small, beautiful bay can be very easily reached by scooter and you can spend a day in relative peace and quiet here. It attracts mainly snorkelers and relaxation seekers, because even in the main season the beach appears fairly deserted.
Haad Khom Beach is also known as Coral Bay and Coconut Beach with good reason, as the bay is surrounded by a large coral reef and there are also very high and impressive coconut trees here. The reef is 50 metres from the shore and is great for snorkelling all year round. Most of the time the water is very shallow up to the reef. At low tide the water goes a long way out and you need to walk for quite a while to reach the deeper water for swimming.
The water at this wonderful beach is turquoise-blue and the sand is powdery and white. A few large rocks border the bay and there are some even in the middle of the beach providing a picturesque setting.
There are only four reasonably priced bungalow sites spread out behind the beach and these attract mainly German and French couples and singles. In the few restaurants here you will find delicious Thai food at good value prices. For shopping you need to drive to the nearby fishing village of Chaloklum, where you will find supermarkets and souvenir shops, as well as the best fish on the island.
