Nai Wok Beach - unknown beach offering various activities
Located on the west coast of Koh Phangan, Nai Wok Beach is a relatively unremarkable, unknown beach which is 650 metres long and is the first stretch of beach you see when you come to this lovely island. There is not that much happening on this narrow stretch of sand, but some young backpackers enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the traditional bamboo huts directly at the beach. There is also some very nice accommodation at the northern end of the beach where families feel at home.
The leaves of several palm-trees hang just above the water and together with the nice sand they provide quite a picturesque setting. Swimming is possible all year round, but it depends on the tides as to how far you have to walk to reach the sea, as from April the water goes extremely far out.
What is there to do at the beach of Nai Wok? Kayaking is one of the favourites as there are two small offshore islands which you can easily paddle to. Wind conditions at the beach are very good, particularly from October to March and it is then that kitesurfers and windsurfers will get their money’s worth here. The big advantage of this quiet beach is that it is near to the village of Thong Sala, which can be reached in a few minutes’ walk and where you can find everything you require for your daily needs.
