Water-sports and lots of action is how you would best describe one of the most popular beaches of Koh Phangan, which is why you will find mainly young travellers here. The nice sandy beach of Ban Tai in the south of the island has a variety of things to offer and especially kitesurfers will get their money’s worth here. Those not into sports can instead enjoy the day in a relaxed atmosphere in one of the many beach bars which are nestled in between the tall palm trees.
Ban Tai Beach - Long sandy beach for water-sports enthusiasts and party fans
Ban Tai Beach is one of the longest of the island of Koh Phangan and mainly attracts young travellers who want to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the nearby town together with action on the water.
This sandy beach is 2.5 kilometres long and is both busy and quiet to the same degree. Although from December to March nearly all the accommodation here is fully booked out, the beach does not seem particularly overcrowded during the day. You will be able to find a nice space in the shade under the many palm trees here and there are also plenty of comfortable places to settle down in the many beach clubs and restaurants.
There are a few rocky areas on the fine sandy beach, behind which mainly exclusive accommodation is to be found. The beach is great for jogging because of its length, and at low tide you can even walk for less than an hour to Haad Rin, which is the most southerly point of the island.
The water is always shallow and ideal for numerous activities such as jet-skiing and stand-up paddling. However, the beach has made a name for itself in the kitesurfing scene and kitesurfers from all around the world come here to tackle the waves with hired equipment, especially in the months from December to March and June to September. Beginners as well as advanced kiters will get their money’s worth here.
Ban Tai Beach is centrally located between Thongsala and Haad Rin and is therefore ideal for spending several weeks' holidays without getting bored, as there is always something happening here.
