Haad Rin Beach on Koh Phangan has the most clubs of any kind on the island and during the Full Moon party it gets really crowded here. Between 30,000 and 60,000 people come to this island every month and then flock to the beach on the well-known party night, enjoying partying and drinking until the early hours of the morning. The party-hungry crowds dance to techno music, drum and base, as well as reggae and lots more at Asia's largest and best known trance party. Away from the party hustle and bustle, Haad Rin is a wonderful, long, white sandy beach with turquoise-blue water which is surrounded by huge rocks. You will find here mostly young people between 18 and 40 who enjoy the sun while they wait for the next party to start.
Haad Rin Beach - The Full Moon beach of Koh Phangan
You will see half-naked couples lying closely together under the coconut trees, teenagers drinking themselves unconscious, young men relieving themselves into the sea, and while the rave music roars loudly in the background, thousands of party guests consume huge amounts of cheap alcohol from small, colourful plastic buckets at the beach. This is not Majorca, but the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan, which for more than 30 years has been a highlight for many party-loving Thailand tourists.
Up to 60,000 people come here every month for the full moon night, when the sun disappears into the sea and the beach transforms into a bright, neon-coloured party area. Party-animals from all over the world paint their faces, put on a neon outfit and party hard all night. The majority are from Germany, France, the UK and Australia, together with many, many from Thailand
All in all, this place comes across as one giant dance-floor where the masses enjoy a boisterous party, but in fact there are 10 bars one after another from where the music hits you from all sides and there is something for all music lovers, whether it is techno, drum and base and even good old popular hits. Amongst the bars are food stalls wherever you look and the alcohol flows freely at Asia’s largest trance party. Lots of buckets of alcohol are sold for around € 5, filled with mixtures such as delicious strawberry daiquiri or whiskey and coke and at this price it is not a surprise that those who want to can get drunk very quickly.
On the whole, Haad Rin Beach is rather impressive with its nice, white, sandy beach and this together with the turquoise-blue water forms a picturesque scene. It mainly attracts young holidaymakers who are looking for a cool party holiday and there is always something happening on this long beach, with plenty of choice of things to do. There are also lots of options for accommodation lined up here and in the evenings everybody gathers at the beach to hang out together. Even at high tide the 800-metre long beach is still spacious and there is a separate area for swimmers away from the many jet-skis to be seen here. The bay is surrounded by steep cliffs.
Haad Rin is known as the party Mecca of Koh Phangan and if there is not a Full Moon party then there is always another one. Parties make money and therefore there is also the Half Moon, Black Moon, Shiva Moon and Acid Moon, as well as the Full Moon party. Also in Haarin there is one club after another which simply means party, party, party! It feels like one long party in Haad Rin on Phangan and if you want to be part of it, you will need to book your accommodation well in advance. People from all over the world come here and only leave once they have had enough of partying.
