Families, couples and singles alike all feel at home at this small beach. Away from the party hustle and bustle of Koh Phangan, this small, fine sandy bay is ideal for relaxation. There are only two hotel sites along the 200-metre long beach. In the two bars you can unwind on one of the numerous hammocks and listen to relaxing music the whole day. The turquoise-blue water lined by lots of nice palm-trees rounds off the picturesque setting. The wonderful sunset can be best experienced from the beach.
Haad Son Beach - The secret beauty of Koh Phangan
Along the north-west of the Thai island of Koh Phangan stretches the small beach of Haad Son, which is also known as the Secret Beach. It is not such a secret as it was a few years ago and is quite busy these days, but the beach is still a little gem.
You can reach the beach by scooter, leaving the main road and taking a small turn-off. However if you don't fancy this, you can park directly at the main road and walk down to this beautiful, small, dreamy bay.
As at most of the small Thai beaches, relaxation and resting are the main activities here. The crystal clear water is great for splashing about and the nice, white, sandy beach is fantastic for lengthy spells of sun-bathing. If that is too boring for you, then there is a very cool local travel agent offering various activities on the whole island. You can book practically anything here, from yoga, to Thai boxing and even excursions to the nearby island of Koh Tao.
The lovely beach of Haad Son mainly attracts families, but couples and singles also feel at home here. The particularly cool bar which is situated on a long pier over the water provides the background music all day and there are hammocks as far as you can see. A wonderful place to spend the whole day, until the evening when sun disappears into the sea providing a very picturesque scene.
