Rantee Beach is not a particularly well-known beach on Koh Phi Phi and here you can find some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle. The water shimmers in a lovely turquoise colour and palm-trees and other trees provide some shade. You can even spend the night directly at the beach in a one of the bungalows belonging to two small sites. It only gets busy at lunchtime here when large groups of day-trippers come to the beach, but even then you can still retreat to the ends of the beach and doze on a hammock while enjoying a fresh smoothie and watching the action from a distance, or alternatively you can also explore the coast by kayak.
Rantee Beach - Remote bay with great swimming conditions
There are no roads on the island of Koh Phi Phi and if you want to get from the centre to Rantee Beach you can either take the more difficult option of walking through the forest along a path which is in places steep and uneven, as well as being not well very well signposted. Alternatively you can just take a taxi-boat and arrive at this beach feeling relaxed,
Behind Rantee Beach there are palm-trees and other trees which even extend to the beach to provide some shade there, and next to which the bungalows belonging to the hotel complexes are spread out across the hills. There are in places large, dark stones on the light sandy beach and the water shimmers turquoise-blue. You will find plenty room between the long-tail boats which are parked at the shore and you can enjoy a relaxed swim in the designated swimming area. On the horizon you can see Phi Phi Leh which is the smaller island of Koh Phi Phi.Directly at the beach are two large restaurants with enormous terraces. Rantee beach is generally very quiet, but it gets busy at lunchtime when many large excursion boats come here. However, these fast boats come and go fairly quickly and if the hustle and bustle of this rush hour is too much for you, then you can always retreat to the edge of the beach where there are hammocks and a makeshift bar next to a small Thai boxing school. Here you can also hire kayaks to explore the surrounding coast.
